Riding in Arizona |
Western settlers originaly explored America on horseback and
today, many of Arizona's Public Lands; Parks, Forests, and
Wildlife Preserves can still be explored on the back of a
horse for a unique natural adventure. Private stables and
guides are available at many public land recreation areas.
Licensing, fees and seasonal conditions vary.
Care on
Trails and Public Lands:
- You
can help to take good care of our trails, roadways, and
public lands so that others may enjoy these areas for years
to come by practicing some of the following actions
- Don't
Litter... take along a trash bag or other receptacle for
collecting your trash so that you can deposit it in the
proper trash receptacle.
- Make
sure that you ride on the designated trail, roadway, or
public land in that area. Check with your destination ahead
of time to make ensure that the area you plan to ride in
is allowed.
- Don't
ride in areas where it is not permitted. These areas have
been declared "off limits" to riders to protect
wildlife, vegetation, or for your safety.
Safety
While Horseback Riding:
- Wear proper
clothing and footwear, according to the terrain and season
- Be courteous
and remember that you are sharing the trail, roadway, or
public land with other riders and recreationists
- Do not ride
on unauthorized trails, roadways, or public lands
- Bring along
extra safety items such as water, flashlights, maps, and
a cellphone or radio
